Great to catch up on some of the capital works happening around Dargaville this morning.
First up I attended the commencement event for the Beach Road culvert upgrade. This project to increase flood resilience includes replacement of the existing round 1.2m diameter culvert with a 3m x 1.5m box culvert, raising of the headwall, and a new floodgate. The project is to be completed by Barfoote Construction over the next four to six Weeks.
Next I went to see the site of a further improvement to the Victoria Street floodwall. This floodwall serves to protect against peak high tide surge. Following recent construction it was identified that there is a height difference with the stop bank so an additional section is to be built to fill the gap.
Then on to check out the Selwyn Park improvements. This project removes the unsafe entry and exit with State Highway 12, creates a new entry off Carrington Rd, and creates new parking both internally and along Carrington Rd. The project is being completed by Red Dell and is scheduled to be completed by early February 2026.
