There were nine different ANZAC ceremonies across the district at around the same time. Thank you to all of our Councillors who represented Council in paying our respects at the ceremonies.
First up I attended Mangawhai's Alamar Crescent Dawn Parade down by the estuary which was blessed with fine weather and very well attended. Thanks to David 'Haggis' Chisholm for again organising an outstanding event.
I then attended the Dargaville Civic Ceremony at the band rotunda by the river where I laid a wreath with Joesephine Nathan - Kaipara District Councillor. Another wonderful ceremony with the Ratana Brass Band playing and a large crowd in attendance. Thanks to RSA President Sue Phillips and team for a great ceremony.
I had the privilege of delivering an address at both ceremonies. I've been asked by some to provide the speech - it is attached.
Thank you to everyone who gathered across the district to acknowledge and honour those who have served and continue to serve.
