Insley Street / Black Swamp Road revetmentCouncil is making great progress on a range of technical roading repair projects across the district.
Yesterday I visited the Insley Street and Blackswamp Road revetment site. This project included the construction of a three-metre-wide revetment and rock armouring alongside Insley Street, helping protect the road, improve pedestrian access, and strengthen the shoreline against future erosion.
Additional works are now being carried out on the adjoining Black Swamp Road section, including revetment construction and road realignment. With an established contractor already on site at the completion of the Insley Street works, the project scope was extended to include a short section of Black Swamp Road.
This approach reduces costs and improves delivery efficiency. The project is being delivered by Huband Contractors Ltd. Work on the project started in April and the Insley Street section of the revetment works has now been completed (pending minor linemarking upgrades). It’s expected that work on the Black Swamp section will be finished within four weeks.
